I’ve been struggling to work out what to write here for a couple of minutes now.
Regrettably my train of thought has been comprehensively derailed by a slow, creeping nausea, brought on by inadvertent exposure to ‘The Lazy Song’ by Bruno Mars, which is currently being piped into the canteen I am in. It truly is a lyrical marvel.
Today I don’t feel like doing anything

Then stare at the fan

Yes, that really is Bruno loudly and very proudly declaring his right to go knuckle to knacker. Screw you, Mummy Mars! But the line that truly jolts my core is that which documents his audacious and resolute determination to escape the pressures of modern life by retreating to his room to ‘stare at the fan’.
I think this song is a cry for help. Bruno is lost. Somebody needs to help Bruno. I’m scared for Bruno.
Anyway, after last week’s marginally heavier foray into the Pink Mist universe the first New Noise of June gets back to the simple business of plucking and placing ten incongruent songs in a row, spanning a mere 45 minutes. Among the nuggets, something brand new from 19 year old Londoner Slime anda cut from the upcoming Battles album, featuring the vocal talents of one Gary Numan.
Lyrical references to the meditative merits of household appliances are few and far between.
